An Ode to July 2018, 2024

Letterpress on handmade paper.

Another surrogate form in the Reading Room series, this book represents a fond memory. This piece utilizes the deteriorated text featured in a number of the Reading Room surrogates to stand as a placeholder, until a text block with a more descriptive nature can be bound into its cover.

The back cover features a representation of “Words,” a sculpture by William King. The sculpture is a key aspect of this particular memory, and serves as a gentle nod to a future iteration of this form.

Cover cloth generously provided by Judith Ivry.
