Beginning with a prompt of “appropriation,” this cycle finds its source point in the imagery of Solace (2022). The original image takes the second slot in the cycle, accompanied by four more high-contrast self-portraits. The imagery elaborates upon the “mistake” of Solace, taking the gap from crudely-attached linoleum pieces and turning it into a striking red line.
